The Great Green Top Ten Tips.

There are a lot of ways to help the environment that will also save you money and most of them are far easier than you think!
Here is a top ten for you to have a think about –
1. Balls!
Using wash balls instead of detergent is far better for the planet. Not only that but it will save you an absolute bomb! They last for ages and are a brilliant alternative for anyone who suffers from allergies.
2. Cool Off.
Laundry again! Try switching to a cooler wash cycle. If you do all your washes at 30 degrees then it can actually reduce your ‘washing machine running costs’ by a third! Not to be sniffed at.
3. Don’t Be Turned-On At Night!
If you make a point of not leaving your appliances on stand-by when you go to bed then it can chop a tenth from the total of your annual bill! Get into the habit of switching things off at night.
4. Get Fruity!
Instead of using the equivalent of a chemical weapons factory to clean your sink, grab a lemon. Vinegar and lemon are both brilliant for cleaning with and they are one hundred percent natural!
5. Find Yourself a Top Model.
Many electrical appliances are now far more energy efficient. When you have to replace something find out how much power it will use before you buy…
6. Slowly Does It…
It is possible to ‘slow down’ your computer by using special software. If you do this it will be using less electricity and it can knock a few more quid from your yearly bill.
7. Power Mad.
There is a handy little gadget which will tell you exactly how much electricity you are using. Some power suppliers will even let you have one for free! A very useful thing to have. If you have a look at it when your tumble dryer is running, it will scare you!
8. Carry On Shopping.
Stop using carrier bags!! Get yourself some nice reusable ones instead. You can even buy ones that fold up so small, they will fit into your pocket; there really is no excuse…
9. Pushing All the Right Buttons.
There are still a lot of people who leave lights on in empty rooms. Turning them off really does make a difference and you will notice it on your next bill.
10. Running Hot and Cold.
Water is precious and we should give it our respect. Don’t leave taps running when you don’t need to! Having a shower will use far less water than filling a bath.
One last thing, I think that all of those who are into the idea of a more planet friendly lifestyle really need to look at this. This Enigin Engery Savings blog has some really amazing ideas for companies who are concerned about thier environmental impact, I am really loving them right now.
